Blank Screen. PowerPoint presentation.

I have used my version of Office 2007 PowerPoint many times without any problems. However I tried to use the "Presenters" facility so that I could see my notes but the audience would not.
I have no idea what I have done as now when the projector is connected to the laptop the images show on the projector but the laptop screen is blank.
If I remove the data cable from the laptop after a couple of seconds the images appear on the laptop but not on the projector. If I re connect the cable the screen goes blank and the projector works.
I assume that in my messing around I have ticked or un- ticked a box that has told the computer the projector is the main screen.
The problem is how do I get to the point (as it has worked for years) that the laptop and projector both show the same images?

Should be F4 on a HP.... try it with and without holding down the FN key as the primary role of the F keys can be reversed on some laptops.

Might help if you mentioned any details about the laptop.

There will be a hotkey combination that does it, it will be hold down the FN key and then press one of the function keys along the top of the keyboard, look for the one that has some sort of symbol in a different colour on it that might be relevant.

Hi. The laptop is and HP Notebook PC HP 6000. Running Vista.
Tried all the "F" Keys together with the "Fn"Key. No difference. The screen remains blank whilst the projector is connected to it.

Thank you for the "F4" info.
The one thing I failed to do was to "press" F4 whilst I was connected to the projector. To avoid the hassle of getting the projector and laptop together and connecting them up, I used only the laptop expecting to see some indication of what I was toggling between on the screen. I saw nothing and assumed it was not functioning.
With the projector and laptop connected and using "F4" and the "Fn" keys together I was able to sort the problem. Thank you.
