Hi factor 95d tobacco pipe - can be spelt briar or brier
100a thin on the ground - could have been either scarce or sparse
either spelling WILL be accepted
oh! JMR27, I never even seen this post til now, apologies for not answering, I did email HO regarding other clues regarding Sat Crossword.

Hi Poortony, as far as we are aware, it's whatever answer they have on their solution in front of them, no alternative answer is given by the compiler.
yet another wasted stamp , I had sparse.

Hi katburd did you get a reply to your e-mail?
At least today's crossword was ok. I don't know whether I could phone that girl at the DR again - she sounds up to the eyes.
Hi JMR27, No, I did not get a reply from the Daily Record
Marketing as yet, she did give me a call last Wednesday to discuss a few points again , I had told her about you phoning the office too, she wanted then, for me, to give her contact details for you, so you can imagine how I had to start explaining to her about the answerbank, that although we exchange comments regarding the crossword clues etc., we don't actually know each other personally, so JMR27 maybe the next time you phone the office, give the girl your email address, and she will pass the info on to Marketing Head Office and the girl from there should hopefully get in touch with you too.
