Fireworking FIREWORKS. I make no apologies for that, I have just been and retrieved the body of a beautiful two year old mastiff bitch from the central reservation of the A11. She was spooked last night and managed to escape from the garden where her owner was tending to his elderly mother. Driving home this morning I noticed what I thought was a dead deer but seeing on facebook this mastiff was missing near me I went back to check just in case, and sadly it was poor Lady. I played dodge the traffic and managed to get her into my van then the owner arrived and we took her home so he could bury her. What a waste of a young life.

He wasn't irresponsible. It was just a tragic accident, and a waste of a young animal's life.

Tragic accidents happen. And there are some real idiots too:

The emotive subject of man versus beast, the fire work issue, the badger cull, horse racing, hunting,it still goes on,general cruelty, cannot be easily settled as there are more important problems in the world, one can only hope common sense will prevail
I cannot believe some of the responses to this tragic story. Why even bother posting if you cannot post anything nice.

Sympathies to you and the owners Jacky. A quick glance on Dogs Lost shows how many dogs have bolted this year, some still not found, the owners are obviously frantic, and the dogs petrfied.
We are all as entitled to an opinion as you are jules.

Where does it say in the rules that you have to say something 'nice' should you wish to reply jules? We are all entitled to our own opinions on this matter. If lankeela didn't want opinions she shouldn't have bothered posting - unless of course we are only supposed to post agreeable replies?
Ahh, what a horrible and sad thing to happen :-(
Perhaps the poor dog was so scared it jumped over the fence that usually kept it in? I'm sure if an animal was that scared by something, it would find a way to get out. Poor dog, and poor owners :-( xx
daffy and missmensis - Speechless TBH. The old saying springs to mind, its a case of manners and etiquette 'if you cant say anything nice dont say anything at all'.

Missnemeis - do you feel that saying that the owner should have acted more responsibily was sympathetic in the circumstances? I think not. Please end it there.
heart breaking , if any body else is ever in the same position as lankeela ring the highways agency ,and ask for an incident support unit to be sent they will make sure it is done safely , dont take no for an answer
