ive recently been given a free mot voucher for kwikfit. Of course they will hope to get some work from it. Anyone had a service by them?

do not touch with a bargepole, even if it's free. They'll do a half ar5ed job and then try and tell you you need a grands worth of work done. Oh and they'll be anything but "kwick".
an mot is different from a service
I went in to Kwikfit a little while ago as my tyre was going down.
They took my wheel off and found air was coming from the valve. I was watching him at all times.
The person then said he could clean the valve up and the odds were it would be OK but he said he could sell me a new valve if I wanted to be sure. I purchased the new valve as I wanted to get home.
The charge for all of this amounted to £3 which I thought was very reasonable.
If I had been near home I would have done this myself but as I was about 50 miles away I thought it was best to go in to the nearest garage.
....and what did you pass on the way home?
DO NOT GO TO KWIKFIT, I took my car in a few years ago (special offer on a cheap service and mot) and they completely buggered my car up! They took of my power steering rack!!!! and then replaced it all wrong so I couldn't steer my car properly (nearly crashed my car), was reluctant to take is back to get fixed ended up taking it somewhere else! sent some many letters emails and phone calls to complain but I was met with a wall of silence!
Don't bother John.
I've got to say that I've had mixed results with KF.

On at least two occasions they have replaced a number plate bulb free of charge rather than have the car fail its MOT. On another MOT occasion one of the exhaust mounts (welded) had snapped and they fixed it securely with an exhaust clamp, again free of charge.

Their Oil Service is very good value if they follow all the checks on the list, and I always watch (discreetly) and in every case bar one it was done properly. When I complained about the odd one out I received a £50 voucher.

Having said that, I would definitely NOT have a service at KF nor go there for any large repairs. Their tyres are no bargain, either.

Don't do it, they will tell you you need things doing which aren't vital.
Well, speak as you find. I had a service, MOT couple of worn tyres replaced and all done well, reasonably priced and quickly done. Very pleasant guy that did it. Hastings branch.
always amazes me how patient their horse is waiting for them to finish the job and jump back on to ask you to stand and deliver
In the last three years I've had six MOTs done (2 cars naturally!) all at half-price by F1 Autocentres. All were first-time passes and no extra work was "needed"- on one occasion they even spent time unjamming a rear seatbelt at no charge so the car would pass. Quite impressed with them.
