I'm visiting Vietnam and Cambodia, cycling from Saigon to Angkor Wat.

I know they have ATMs, accept US dollars and other hard currencies in main towns but I'll be off beaten track and it may be better to have Viet dong. Would you recommend I get some at the airport on arrival?

use riel and dong from ATM's. You will need a 'crisp' (brand new) $50.00 (US) bill for the border crossing into Cambodia ( they will not accept an old wrinkled one. Don't ask me why, but they are very corrupt at the borders.

I know about the Rough Guides thank you. I only wanted an answer to a single simple question and hoped someone who's been there recently may help.

You're welcome. Please check the $50 price as it was 4 years ago when I was there.
