I want to try my hand at crochet again but have misplaced my hook. Only want to do some granny squares to learn before I try anything more complicated. What size hook do I need and which would be the best wool to use (won't actually use wool, will have to be acrylic) TIA.

Hi sophie, best for that IMO would be size 7 hook and double knitting if you want to make a thickish blanket.

Thanks daisya! Have a feeling that was the size of the misplaced one; just need to find a shop selling hooks and wool open tomorrow!
Sophie if you have a size 8 hook that would be ok as there's not a lot of difference (rather than go and buy one specifically) x

I only had the one; I'm sure it's about somewhere but am rubbish at finding things (bought some new tweezers this morning to replace the ones I lost and have lost the new ones already!) Will need to buy some wool anyway so getting a hook won't be much trouble!
You can try eBay for both hooks and wool.

Thanks xstitcher, I'll have to find the details of my Ebay account, another thing I've lost lol!
