I have 4 fruit trees that I planted in pots in early spring, they were bare root trees and are around 6ft tall. Only one bore fruit (apple) although they all look healthy. I intend to plant them in the ground but I'm unsure at what time of year to do this.

This time of year is perfect.
Is your garden a frost pocket? Oct to Feb is the best time for the roots to become established before vigorous growth begins but depending on local conditions a bit of protection may help.
