Smoking cessation? You mean how to stop smoking. You don't work for the local council do you?
Do these people want to stop or are you finding some way to force them?
Why does it have to be a unique idea? What is wrong with the tried and tested methods?

daffy - The OP is a student nurse, so I guess it's some kind of coursework question.
why are you targeting factory workers

haha no i don't work for the council. I'm not against smokers at all. yes i'm a student nurse, and as a project i'm trying to find some kind of unique idea that hasn't been been tried before. I'm researching methods that have been done before but i'd like to see what the public think of any other ideas that haven't been tried before that's all. I'd especially like to hear from smokers, and what they feel may be likely to push them into thinking about giving up. I've segmented areas of deprivation to focus on as my personal choice.
Make them £100 a pack.
Look, while ever people smoke, they are paying taxes and if the taxes smokers pay is greater than the cost of treating them, then let them carry on I say.
i work in smoking cessation and it is merely my role to give information, encouragement and advice to people who access our service, NOT to judge!

you could try focussing on the harm passive smoking does to children ...

many research projects and leaflets etc avail on that! why not start by gauging 'misinformation' and ignorance in a small (qualitative) group, and go from there??

If you could get them to watch a video showing the effects of smoking on younger men. (I mean by 'younger' in their 40s or 50s)
Many smokers won't think about the consequences of their addiction or say 'so what if I get ill when I'm old'.
unless they really want to, there's nothing you can do, show or tell them that'll make them want to quit.
