Seems he was eaten by his pigs. Pigs a big fairly dangerous animals (and very tasty) but to attack, kill and then eat seems a bit odd.

No doubt the veggies on the site will be jumping up and down with glee. Perhaps it was a veggie that got him?

Pigs kept in intensive conditions in barns are prone to aggression, frustration and boredom. They vent this by biting and snapping at anything that is within reach and doesn't bite back. Normally pigs are not this aggressive but the conditions make them this way. Sounds like the old boy might have had a funny turn, maybe even passed away, and fell into the sty.
BTW a favoured way of the old school IRA for 'disappearing' an inconvenient body.

It is well known that feeding a body to pigs is a brilliant way to get rid of the evidence. Pigs can and will attack a human in some circumstances. If he died of natural causes they would just have seen him as food.

Pigs aren`t vegetarian - they`ll eat anything. They usually just snuffle about rummaging for small bits though. I find it hard to believe they would eat a body unless it had been cut up into small pieces.
I can't think of a rasher thing than to go near hungry pigs.
I think it's most likely that he fell ill and collapsed in the pen then the pigs ate him.
Agree with mosiac. Think he more likely died (fatal heart attack?) and dropped, and the pigs saw a free meal and chowed down.

I'm surprised that people are shocked that pigs will do this? They'll eat anything, as this has proved- never heard the expression 'greedy pig'?
Pigs are omnivous, opportunist feeders.

In the New Forest in the Autumn, pigs are turned out to eat the acorns that poison ponies. You are warned NEVER to approach a pig or get between a sow and her litter. They are seriously huge, the only one I have ever seen close up was the size of a two seater settee. When pigs bite, they can chop out the mouthful. Many years ago when we moved here, a jogger ran between a sow and the litter. She chased him and bit a chunk out of his calf....will try and find the link.
More than one person had fed their victim to pigs. They eat anything.
