On 3 occasions, after collecting wood from my wood box, I have noticed blisters on my thighs, I awoke the early hours of one morning to a very sore sensation on my thigh. When I looked I had about 3 burn like blisters and redness to the surrounding skin. The second was one blister and soreness to my knee. Then this morning I was leaning into the wood box and felt a sudden soreness to my thigh, once inside the house I checked my thigh, sure enough it was another blister, with the same sore feeling. Has any one AB experienced this? I was wondering if they could have been spider bites or maybe it's just a coincidence. Although they all seem to have happened each time I have been to the wood box. (p s not sure where to post this so have stuck it in some other subjects too) Thank you.

Could the wood have been treated with something you are allergic to?
This may seem a silly question but are your thighs covered up when you go to the wood box? If that is the source one would think your hands/arms would be first affected.
This might put you off, but you mind find some information from the reports they give.

It would be very odd if it's in the same place every time. Are you sure there isn't some splintered wood that you snag each time you go to the box? If I thought it were a spider you wouldn't catch me going to a wood box after the first time.
Yes, they could be insect bites, but the offender that comes to mind is the flea. A short course of steroids should knock it on the head.

I suggest that you see your GP as this could mimic certain skin disorders such as impetigo and pemphigus.........good luck.

Hi, thank you for replying, when I go to the box I'm very well covered,ie lumber jacket, boots and gloves, I'm actually terrified of spiders, I would never harm them but if I touch one, or one touches me I'm pretty hysterical with my arms etc. The wood doesn't make contact with my legs, but I guess anything's possible re chemicals. The box is a large chest with a lift up lid, I don't get into it but lean over it, my legs are against the sides and I'm wondering if maybe I've brushed against something during this time. The blisters weren't in the exact same place but always on the upper part of my legs and the knee, I still do wonder if I have snagged them on wood but it's the burn like blisters that baffle me.

Hi LoftyLottie, Thank you, I did look at these before I posted the question, I'm really keen to discover what's causing these, they're a mystery. Hi Squad, I've been unfortunate to have had flea bites and these are nothing like I've experienced before. The only way to describe them is they are like the blister after a burn, they do not itch but are sore, I haven't noticed any puncture wounds. Just very strange but like I say maybe just a coincidence.

Yikes Squad, I just checked out, impetigo and pemphigus. Poor people!
spritz insect killer, close box & check later. Tell us what you find

Hi tamborine, I couldn't kill them, I'd just wear more armour next time. Well, if they are spider bites I'm firing up the central heating till I find myself a man to do the wood gathering.
