Had my bill today and was horrified to see the electric part of the bill was double the previous bills and double the gas portion. We have been away for 4 weeks out of this quarter.
We have just changed to a new fixed tariff so was studying the bill closely to try and sort out new rates when I noticed there was an error.
The bill should have been for the quarter June to September but it didn't. It ran from March to September for the electric part of it. No wonder it was double the normal period. I will be making a phone call tomorrow.
Check your bills carefully folks!!

I checked my TT bill and discovered they had not taken away one of their services (should have been done in May) and hadn't initiated the discount I was promised at the same time.
Mailed them and got a load of guff about prioritising it to highest level, etc.
Mailed them back, gave a deadline, then I would refer the matter to OFCOM.
Immediate reply - sorted.
well done anne dont take no sh*t from them and their usual "its a computer error" nonsense. Who did they blame before the computer era ?
scottish power were my previosu supplier and thier bills seemed to cover varying periods, not just the usual quarter or 13 weeks, if you look at previous bills you may find that they haven't sent you a bill that ovrlaps they just didn't send a bill for the right weeks last time, because they send a bill after a meter reading rather than every quarter on the dot sme time each quarter, really annoying it is. the gas was only read once a year too! rest of the time it was estimates.
After years of problems with estimated readings from various suppliers and irregular billing periods I like my OVO account which allows me to submit readings online on or around the last day of the month. Not only are the bills more accurate but it also gives me graphs showing actual month by month consumption patterns.
