How long does a tenancy agreement for a domestic rented property have to be before it is legally classed as a Long Lease Tenancy by law?
i.e. 7 years, 10 years or more etc?

Thanks,

The answer given by BM may be correct only if it is an assured shorthold tenancy and there are many tenancies which cannot be assured tenancies, a long lease is one granted for a term of years certain exceeding 21 years at creation as stated.
God to see you back and active BM.

A long lease is defined as one for 21 years or more when created the years remaining are irrelevant.
If you took on the tenancy after 15 January 1989, it is virtually certain that you have a short term assured tenancy. If so, these do not ever convert to anything else, no matter how long you have been in the property - they just roll-over until terminated by one or other of the parties. So the answer is, never.
If you took on the tenancy prior to this, post again - it MAY be different.
That's in England & Wales at least - I don't know what the outlying provinces do.
