Can Britain continue to take in this amount of migrants?

/// Paul Nuttall, Ukip deputy leader, said: “These figures show how the simple character of the country is being changed beyond recognition. The Government must become more serious about controlling immigration because these changes are happening without the say so of the people. ///

/// “Our public services, schools, hospitals and housing cannot support this kind of growth. It is the weakness and ignorance of successive Governments that have let it happen.” The figures, from the Office for National Statistics, show 487,000 of the 566,00 long-term immigrants entering Britain last year did not hold UK passports. ///

Then how the h&ll did they get in?

has no one considered why some people are leaving Britain. It isn't just to get some sunshine, they don't like the way the country is being run, nor the amount of change has taken place, nor the fact that immigration has been running out of control for too long. One good friend has left citing most of those things, he had enough of what he described as favouritism towards incomers. the British who do leave mostly do so with either a job to go to, or enough money to sustain them, those who retire to Spain, France don't go there potless, unlike many who have poured into Britain.
Yes,I can't cite reams of figures like our socialist
friends but I'd be pretty confident that the vast
majority of emigrants they like to offset against
immigrants are receiving pensions/benefits from
here. Rest assiured though they will all return
when healthcare/care costs become too onerous
with the onset of illness/old age.
Em has a valid point. People leaving Britain are, in the main, self sufficient and prepared to take responsibility for themselves. Unfortunately, that cannot be said for all those entering Britain.
naomi24 - but are the emigrant figures the number UK passport holders, or does the figure include temporary ecomonic migrants, who work here for a couple of years, then leave for home?
SP, no idea - but I don't see those who work here as the problem. It's the others.
