Stain on carpet

Anyone know how to clean a stain on a carpet which is 60% cottton-40%wool?
It says dryclean only but as it is not a very big area of stain I thought there might be something in the house other than carpet cleaning shampoos. I am in Newfoundland at this time and the advice is for my daughter-in-law. She brought it over from UK and it has not been cleaned before. We found a spray left in a cupboard but it said not to be used on cotton! Any suggestions appreciated. Thank you.

Try a car upholstery spray on a small, unseen area. The solvents quickly evaporate to leave just a powder to be vacuumed off. It's worked for me before on non-synthetic materials.

I use 1001 spray stain remove for carpets and upholstery. Spray foam on to stain, leave for a few minutes, rub in with circular movement. Blot any excess moisture with kitchen towel or cloth then leave to dry. Hoover when dry. Works a treat.
