We live in the city with a small walled courtyard garden and a little pond. A few years ago we had a frog that lived there, but it disappeared after a while. Last night I noticed we have a new frog, much smaller than the first one, but it got me wondering how it got there ? Any ideas ?

it hitched a ride on a bird!
A small frog is quite able to scale a wall.
Frogs scaling walls? That might explain the two who visit my garden (they are different and not the same one) But it doesn't explain where they from as none of my neighbours have ponds, and my garden is totally enclosed, obviously not secure as two hedgehogs visit regularly as well
^^ If hedgehogs can get in then so can any smaller animal.

Like many other animals.... Frogs spread out when young to find new living habitats so they species can widen their genepool to protect their survival. I have seen a small frog clamber up a 6' height fence made on those concrete slabs between posts. I am not 100% sure but suspect they can smell water nearby.

Thanks for your help, and lol at sinderella. If they can smell water, that would make sense otherwise they'd have a lot walls to climb and gardens to go through to find the occasional pond !! Thanks again
