Hi, my female cat's food keeps being eaten by a local male cat who sneeks in during the night through the cat flap. We need to keep the flap open as our cat won't use a litter tray. I heard that there is some sort of spray that would ward off unwanted cats based on the scent of another tom cat. Has anyone heard of this? Thanks

Jonathan, you can buy cat flaps that will only let in a cat that carries a magnetic tag on its collar. If the cat nicking your cat's food is a real tom (entire) then I fear that the scent of another tom will only cause him to sprsy your kitchen... and he won't have bought the aerosol at Tesco's :~0
Hi Jonathan. As long as your cat has 'been' after her evening meal, she should be ok until morning. I advise locking the cat flap as you go to bed and opening it again in the morning, been doing it to my cats for years and they are rarely caught short.
dont leave food out, he'll give up pretty soon, even if she cant live without her own toilet overnight, she can live without snacks :-)

Thanks for the answers everyone. I don't want to shut the cat flap as she already messes in the house on occasions and I don't want to encourage her. I reckon we should try moving the food though. She tends to meow loads for food and any other reason actually (she's 18 now and quite moany!) Thanks for the warning woofgang, I definitely don't want another cat weeing in the house!
