Haven't had one since I was a child, but this started last week and it's not got two heads which don't look ready to burst yet. It's sore and itching and driving me crazy. I've been applying a hot flannel frequently but no sign nof improvement. Fo top it all it's my birthday in two days' time and I'm supposed to be partying. There's no chance of wearing make-up over the thing. Has anyone got any miracle cures they can recommend? The local chemist was no help - she said to go to the doctor, but I haven't had time for that and it's not that bad, just annoying.

My sister always got one of them when it was time for the school photo!
Hope yours clears up soon.x
i was plagued with styes as a child. there is no miracle cure, other than they reach bursting point and the pus clears away. the most helpful way to do this is to keep applying "as hot as you can stand" cotton wool dipped in really hot water, and then wrung out.this softens the painful hard redness and helps the yellow head grow to bursting point. like you,i experienced another stye as an adult, before a big event, and i just had to hope it burst in time!
I had one the other week and it fooking hurt!

Used reeeally hot compresses to bring it out, painkillers and antihisthamines for the itch and brolene drops...aka 0.1% propamidine isetionate...

Also before i used "goldeneye gel" i think thats the chorampheniwhatever one someone mentioned xxxx
Chloramphenicol eye drops I have only ever had for Conjunctivitis, I may be wrong - but good luck, styes are awful.
when I first heard of the old wives tale about Gold, I have to admit being highly sceptical, but it really does work.. for me it has in the past (late twenties). try it nothing to lose.
