After the farcical situation which occurred last night, surely the only reasonable sanction for the four pairs involved is disqualification, isn't it?

Anything short of disqualification is tantamount to tacit approval.

If nothing else, people have paid good money to watch competitive matches - not matches where each pair is trying to lose - and therefore they have been cheated.

Ah Olympics Commitee passing the buck eh ?
Good!!!
Somebody has just told me two countries have appealed the decision already, but not China. Not sure if that is true or not.
OG, I don't know if they're passing the buck. Maybe that's the regulation in such circumstances. I have no idea.
very good...
just to clarify, it's not the IOC's or LOCOG's decision, but that of Badminton's world governing body.
whoever made the decision, it's the right one
South Korea's challenge rejected, Indonesia withdrew theirs
Anyone who has watched "The Weakest Link" will know that the STRONGEST link is often deliberately voted off in the hope that the final opposition will be weaker: it's just the way human morals are deteriorating. Sad.
Here is the end of Jacque Rogge's speech from the opening ceremony. There's no doubt these athletes should have been kicked out - the idea of them wearing a gold medal following their behaviour goes against the whole Olympic ideal ...

I congratulate all of the athletes who have earned a place at these Games. And to the athletes, I offer this thought: Your talent, your dedication and commitment brought you here. Now you have a chance to become true Olympians. That honor is determined not by whether you win, but by how you compete. Character counts far more than medals.

Reject doping. Respect you opponents. Remember that you are all role models. If you do that, you will inspire a generation.

These Games bring many hopes. Hope for harmony and peace between the 204 National Olympic Committees. Hope to see the young generations inspired by the values of sport. Hope that these Games continue to promote sustainble development.

Dear Athletes, make us dream.
