my neighbour has one outside and he cut his back quite severely a few weeks ago if that's any help
It can indeed but new growth will only sprout from the bottom, so cains should be cut down close to the ground (coppiced) New shoots should come through in the spring. Coppice the cains when it is not activly growing, idealy when frost is not forcast.
