He had to do some extensive work on a client toenails, he opened up a medical pack containing all sorts of scissors, clippers, forceps and files, after using the said items he rolled them all up together and asked me to dispose of them. I reminded him that all his equipment was still inside. He replied its all disposable, it was all made from plastic and coated in titanium and totally disposable, the whole pack casts about £7.00. I examined the equipment and appeared to quite heavy and clearly metal coated.

Well I thought it was interesting!!

AYG, obviously a lot of profit in there but saying that, I did say "up to £2.600" some pay less. Due to their challenging behaviour many need 2 staff to each resident on a constant basis, they have private bedrooms that we would die for, it is a very, very nice home with large luxurious leather furniture, they go out almost daily to any place they want to go (within reason) they eat in any cafe or restaurant (within reason) when they go out, the staff also eat with them (free for the staff) they have holidays abroad and regularly go to the pub in the evenings, their alcohol intake is strictly monitored and the staff can only drink soft drinks for obvious reasons, so a large portion of those fees are spent on the clients and the staff to ensure a safe environment to ensure their safety. They also frequently damage the building and the furnishings. All the staff are also highly trained. It is a bit steep I agree.
Sorry Ratter15, I didn't mean to imply that you needed to go on the course, rather that you'd enjoy it :)
I had no idea they were allowed such freedoms RATTER, holidays abroad and visits to the pub. I don't mean to imply that they should be restricted to the home without any prospect of going anywhere, but no doubt it is difficult for staff to monitor them on occasions such as those. It sounds a very top-end place.

roobidoo, I know how you meant it lol, I was just saying that it is something we are already very aware of. I would love to do the course, we all learn from these courses no matter how clever we think we are lol.

AYG, we have a guy there that is crazy about Santa Clause, last year two staff members took him to Lapland to meet the "real" Santa, He still talks about it now, he had a fantastic time.
I would have thought that autoclaving would still be more cost effective. However the initial outlay for a decent autoclave is often prohibitive. Then you get into h&s issues with the use and maintenance of autoclaves. It's no wonder some people prefer to opt for the hassle-free disposable, especially the self-employed.
