if they were in a creche and you could look in on them from time to time, wouldn't that be better than spending thousands on child minders, and not getting to see them during the day time
people nip out the office every so often to have a smoke, so that is lost productivity if you like, and one wouldn't need to see them till lunch time
and maybe once later in the afternoon. I can't see the problem with that idea at all.
the creche would undoubtedly cost money to run so there would still be a large childcare cost.
I'd have to leave.

I can't think of anything worse for the babies, the mothers, the customers and the co-workers. Too stressful for words.
not as much as spending 1,000 quid a month on child care, which is what a relative pays. a woman on the first programme said that is what she spends on childcare. You could have the money deducted from salary, it wouldn't be any near as expensive i'm sure.
i agree having them around your desk would be pointless, but in a creche, that could work.
I don't see why anyone would need to be nipping out to check on their child if it was in a creche. You wouldn't be doing it if it was with a child minder.
What amazed me watching the programme was that productivity didn't suffer, although the accounts department wasn't too happy, as you wouldn't be if you were doing figures.
I could well imagine that in practise, those with children at work will love it and the others will mostly resent it as they will be the ones taking up the slack. The ones with children at work were even saying they would be able to have more children if they could bring them to work. I wonder how well that will go down with the childless.
LB, weren't the children sitting or lying around the office?
I would imagine productivity would start to slip over a period of time, week in week out it wouldn't be a good environment for a baby, toddler nor the staff.
The programme didnt have a cheche they were stuck next to a desk. It may not have affected work much but as a customer I dont think I'd like to hear a child in background when I'm trying to dicuss business and I really dothink it is fair on a child to be stuck in an office.
A creche is a great idea, sadly not many companies are interested due to the running costs, health and safety, staff training, CRB checks, insurance ect, costs to parents would end up being as high as standard childcare.
em the babies were OK in their mother's arms at their desks, mum's were still using their computers OK. It's once they want to start exploring and are not happy just to sit there that the trouble starts. That's why the boss said once they start walking and wanting to explore they will go down to the Creche.
When I first read this I saw Rabies in the office, must make an appointment with specsavers
other people's kids.....brrr.
Not very stimulating for the children I think, air-con all the time in some places,
artificial lighting most of the time---an awful scenario.Poor little souls.
I agree brenda, no one seems to think about the babies environment as long as they can be sat somewhere and quiet.
