Never knew that .So paper may get a few moans a day and decide which to run with .A spattern could develope and the paper would know who a real moaner and call them them to ask is anything right to day then.
I'm still waiting for a call about the day my grandfather caught my granny at it with the coalman in the morning and the butcher in the afternoon.
Mind you, it was during the war and you had to do what you could due to rationing
Yes, reminds me of the time I was abducted by aliens - came back pregnant!
I read Piers Morgan's first book (don't judge me!) and he touched upon this subject when talking about his newpaper days.

Paula Yates used to call Piers and tell him where she'd be and her "story" and that's how his papparazzi got pictures of her in the most random places (geographically, not biologically) and the "close source" in the article was Paula herself.

Paula was not the only one to do this, but it's the only one I can him recall mentioning by name.

Ever since I read that chapter, whenever I see an article where a "source" has given information, I always wonder if it's the celebrity themselves.

publicists do that. Paid a load of money to get their client into the papers, mags, public eye.

But do they get paid as well ?
Most of them seem to plant their stories when they have a CD or a film out or a new TV show. It's all free publicity and all because plebs like us keep buying papers and reading it!!
Sometimes the story in the press is a last desperate attempt to get a few quid by 'celebrities' who are on their uppers.
There was a story in The Mirror over the last few days by an actress from Corrie telling the world she's bankrupt because she took time off to look after her mother.
