Just wanted to get some opinions about the Peter Barlow storyline. Peter gives up his own son to his ex wife Leanne, who is not even the child's mother, it appears that he did so under pressure because he wanted to see the best for Simon who said that he wanted to live with Leanne. In my opinion he did the wrong thing and should have kept Simon but I know that plenty will have an opposite opinion.
He realised that he should not have given Simon away and we see over the next few weeks that he falls apart as he realises the consequences of his actions.
You would have thought that a lot of people would realise that he was drinking due to the fact that he realises he wrongly gave his son away, but everyone in the street seems just to consider him an alcoholic who should not be responsible for a child.
The next thing is that Leanne decides that it will be in Simon's best interests if she moves away with her new boyfriend Nick which means that Peter will have very little access to his son if at all.
I know that it is only a storyline, but the real incredulous thing is the apparent acceptance of the likes of his parents Ken and Deirdre, all Ken can do is pull his usual concerned expression. plus Gail who only seems concerned that she may lose Nick.
To me the idea that it is okay for Ken and Deirdre to see Peter give up their grandson to Leanne is ridiculous but they do not seem to care that she intends leaving, potentially taking all access from their grandchild and this seems be stretching the truth a little too far? It seems wrong that they could even consider supporting Leanne?
I would be interested in others thoughts on this one!

Strangely enough they would make a perfect couple. Gay men can be very attractive and women usually love them because they are so understanding.
That would be a lovely story line though if Maria has his baby and it is naturally conceived, ahhhhh I really like Marcus, and can understand Maria falling for him. (I know it's not real too. Of course, it took AB and some users to make me aware it wasn't real!! )
I didnt think Leanne actually had a residence order. Thought they had just agreed things between the two of them?
I could be wrong Smowball.
Anyway it's Corrie tonight. And it is totally sad that I am looking forward to Corrie when it's a July evening and we should be sitting outside with a meal and a bottle of wine!! It is still pouring and I am cold!!
Never mind LL, according to Mail Online (ahemmm), supposed to be sunny and warm from next week !!

(Marcus is lovely, isn't he ......).
Son is getting married on Saturday Chap so I hope you are right. The weather forecast looks promising.
What would Marcus see in Sean? Not exactly on the same level are they. Sean ain't exactly very intelligent.
Fingers crossed x
I don't fancy wearing wellies!!
The fingers crossed was for Saturday LL. Yes, I often wondered what he saw in that silly twit Sean, probably wouldn't in real life !
I am prob wrong LL. lol

I know they have to speed some storylines up as to do them as real-time would be impractical but the whole way in which he gives Simon to Leanne and its all done and dusted is stupid, then she wont even let him see his own son!
Thanks for the crossed fingers. No doubt it will be a good day anyway, despite the weather. A very low key affair, so I won't have to dress up like a do's dinner thank goodness.
Why do we all watch it I wonder Smowball. It is actually the only soap I watch, Probably because of the humour and because I feel I know them all - Have been watching it since 1960 on and off!!!!

Hi all, best wishes for your son's wedding on Saturday Lottie, I am sure it will all go perfectly regardless of the weather!
Yes Corrie does seem to short cut issues in the storylines, I also thought that Peter had just agreed that Simon could live with Leanne, now suddenly she has a residency order. it is like when they buy houses or rent any commercial property. It can take months to go through the legals, but they seem to move in instantly. I know if they did everything to the correct timescale a story line would never be able to move to it's conclusion, but regardless they should make some attempt to keep things realistic!
I too love Marcus, he seems the perfect (gay) man, the guy that plays Sean was in I'm a celeb last year and he came across as really petulant and sulky, a bit like his character in Corrie!
Thanks for your good wishes Sue.
It was Peter's choice to let Simon live with Leanne, a very brave choice to make Simon happy, he should of made it so Leanne cannot take him out of the country too
