It must be itching, for one reason or another.
tae the poor creature to the vet! It could be an allergy, harvest mites to name but two.
A vet trip, wully, as woofgang suggests is the best option....poor little thing.....Sqad had that....and he went bald, and turned sex mad.

Hope the moggy gets better soon. :)
sqad didn't really nedd the vet though, a trip to the coven would have helped.

On a sensible note though, wully, take cat to vet & check for allergy, etc.

live out in the sticks, transport a problem at the moment. will get to vet asap, was just looking for some ideas to alleviate the irritation for the time being
It was the coven that caused it, nibble.
Do cats suffer from mange? See a vet as soon as you can, your other cat may catch whatever it is?
^<< note to self - DON'T upset the coven>>

I have had to learn the hard way myself, nibble lol.
Hi
Believe or not cats suffer from stress the same as humans do, if the cat is lacking a quite place to go, or is constantly bothered by the other cat due to territory issues. This will cause stress, cats are by nature solitary animals, they will tolerate other cats in the same home but still need their own space.
Female cats are more prone to stress and will scratch and bite their own fur out.
This leaves areas bare and also is a risk to the cat if they swallow large amounts of loose fur.
It can lead to intestinal obstruction and even death as the cat becomes constipated as a result.
Have the vet check for any obvious signs of mites or flea allergy, if not present then the cat maybe becoming stressed, the vet will suggest any helpful remedies or actions to take to relieve this.
Sounds like a flea allergy to me, does she have fur missing from around the base of her tail ? (that's another classic sign).
I agree with AP. I`m guessing the cat has licked the hair out rather than scratched it out. Flea allergy can cause them to lick themselves bald in certain patches. A more effective (and routinely applied) flea treatment should stop it.
