Does anyone have experience of buying Sofas on line and finding them uncomfortable to sit on once delivered?

I bought online from Sofa, sofa... hated it when it arrived, very uncomfortable. They took it back, and refunded full cost less delivery charge. I then bought one from Argos... big mistake. I would never buy a sofa again unless I'd seen it and sat on it to test!

Yes I have! When it arrived it was so uncomfortable that I couldn't sit on it. I sold it on and went to a shop to buy another one, so that I could try before buying.
No, I'm not that daft.
Don't some mail order places a have a returns thing?
I think the better idea would be go to a store and try before you buy.
The problem with try before you buy is the one you try is not the one you buy - same with beds. Ask them if you can the buy the mattress you just sat on and see what they say. (They will say no in my experience). I wonder if the sofas and beds on display are slightly better made than the ones that gets shipped to you several weeks later.....?
no but when we chose our last 3 piece, the man made sure that we understood that the one that we got would be much firmer than the display one because the display one gets so much use.

I wouldn't dream of buying a sofa without trying it first. Comfort is No.1 for me. It can be as stylish as can be but if it's uncomfortable then I don't buy.
<<I wouldn't dream of buying a sofa without trying it first.>> and they wouldn't dream of selling it to you either....just a less well-made copy.....

Hi All, Thank you for your comments, we had explored many avenues before buying online, but didn't like anything we saw. Suffice to say, we won't do that again!
Thank you very much for answering KNOWABIT that's exactly who we bought the sofas from. I wonder if it was the same design The Kipling? I have contacted them asking what I can do, but haven't had a reply yet. I would be really interested to hear how difficult it was to get a refund.
this is what the website says...be quick!

Hi Woofgang, Thank you so much for finding that. I did start to look at the T & C's last night but was so frustrated about the sofas that I didn't have the patience to read them all! That's great news. Shall discuss with hubby tonight and probably be off sofa shopping tomorrow!
