One of the residents on our close persists in driving his Mercedes van (big)whilst under the influence of alcohol. He drives to work in the morning suffering from the effects of the previous nights drinking and quite often arrives home having been to the pub. He has had a few minor scrapes and we are worried that it is only a matter of time before someone is hurt.
He is quite obviously over the limit most of the time.
My neighbours and myself have tried to mention it in a nice sort of way but to no avail. I want to report him but anonymously, how can I do this? What is the prefix number to hide caller ID?
Regards

141 in the uk jellybaby....
It doesn't matter if you withhold your number when calling the police, they will still get the number you are calling from
They wont give him your details
141 normally withholds your number ... but the Police will still be able to access it if necessary (as they can with all calls where appropriate).
You could try Crimestoppers.
http://www.crimestoppers-uk.org
Or more specifically, dialling 999

If you use the 101 number, I don't know if they still get your number or if 141 works
You could contact CrimeStoppers...

Yes let the local police know as much as possible, time he leaves home, day he drinks( if it is not all the time) registration number and description of him and the van. Cambridgeshire police have a special number to report Drink driving I think other police do as well.
You are very observant. Do you drink much ?
Tell them the name of the pub and the time he normally go's there, they will keep a look out for his van and stop him when he leaves the pub, that way they will just say ''we happened to see you driving out of the pub sir '' no mention at all of how they got the information. Just seeing a car/van driving out of a pub car park is reason to stop them.
Please don't wait.

A little boy or girl could be crossing the road tomorrow morning when this buffoon arrives half pi$$ed.

Thenry, yes, I do like a drink, but I would never venture out in a vehicle whilst under the influence.
Thanks for all the replies, I decided to call the local station and they were very accommodating.
You did the right thing.
Well done.
