Hi Can anyone give me advice about the cheapest way to travel and sight see in Barcelona please?
My son is going for two days and another friend is going for four days. They will be arriving by bus but leaving by plane, so ideally if there is a travel card that will cover the cost of getting to the airport that would be good. Also they will be wanting to do some sightseeing, including a visit to the sagrada familia and some of the other Gaudi museums. Any advice would be very much appreciated.
thanks !

pps. does the barcelona card include the cable car?
Going up to Montserrat in the cable car is good. Also, not far away is the Salvador Dali museum at Figueras.
which airport will they be arriving at?
Apart from work (which doesn`t count) I have been to Barcelona a couple of times. The first time I seem to remember getting some kind of travel pass that got me around everywhere I wanted to go. I remember going to the Segrada Familia with that. That was the best way to travel although I can`t remember the details. Second time, I went on a train to the airport which was really easy and not expensive. You could look at the Lonely Planet website - they`re usually quite helpful.
There are three tourist bus routes. I think it was about 15 euros for a a two or three day ticket. very good value as your can get of f and on at all the main attractions. The Gaudi buildings are worth seeing and very cheap to enter. All within walking distance of the city centre.
We caught a train to the airport. Its easy and cheap, you just have to check online or on a map which station to go from as there are a few main terminus and I can't remember now.

Otherwise we walked to almost everywhere or caught a tube. Beware of pickpockets in Barcelona. Don't let it spoil their holiday by getting robbed. It happened to us and we had a wallet taken from a zipped pocket. My advice is to take nothing you don't need to take eg Driving licence and only take some of your cash out with you each day. LEave soem in the hotel safe for tomorrow.
Carolegif's suggestion of the Gaudi museum in Figueras is good ( I was there in February, it isn't cheap to get in but it is stunning)though it is a fair way from Barcelona. You should check the opening times and days of the museums as many of them are closed on certain days.

they arrive by bus, so i guess that will be in the city centre. they leave by plane on a ryanair flight to stansted, so I think that is Reus.
