CRB check

I am thinking of employing someone on a temporary basis to cover illness, however due to the nature of the work I will need to do a CRB check on the person i need to hire. Do I need to inform the potential employee that I will need to do have a CRB check done, or could I do it without informing them?

they will have to sign to give permission for the check and write on the form all their previous names and addresses, so yes they will need to be notified!
You will need to inform the employee as they will need to provide you with evidence of some original documentation required for CRB check example passport, driving license address details

Excellent, thank you for the information, always best to do things correctly....
why not use an agency who conducts the checks on staff for you?
That would increase the cost, cath - at the moment it's £39 for a CRB check. However, crafty, not everyone can request a CRB check, you have to be an authorised body to obtain the paperwork in the first place - do you already have that in place?
