I am a divorced father, i was married to the childs mother at the time of my childs birth and registering the birth. I have asked the school to let me have copies of her school report, but have been told her mother has refused this....can she do this or do i have the right to receive them??

just tell the school you have parental responsibility and therefore you should see the reports. Or alternatively ask the mother or your daughter for them
why on earth would her mum want to stop you seeing the school reports? how bizarre! anyway, bednobs is right - you have parental responsibility so tell the school that and that you'll pay any admin fee involved in providing you with the copy. Altnernatively, can you not ask your daughter to bring it with her when you see her? how old is she?
My friends ex hubby goes to a seperate parents evening arranged by the school.....surley in this day & age the school can deal with this. You are more than entitled! X
Yes, demand them. You can also get a copy of every letter that is sent home.
my son always goes to parents evening on a separate appointment to my grandson's mother (they never married) and he gets a separate report, the key issue that gives him that right is that he is on the birth certificate I think.
Birth cert and parental rights. Unmarried fathers get automatic parental rights if the child was born after 2003.
grandson was born in 1999, granddaughter born last year and this new one will be born 2012, can't wait! my son is/will be on all the registrations and they all have his surname, i didn't realise the dad could have the parental rights at school even if he wasn't on the birth registration.
Are they still together then?

Hi thanks for all the replies, in answer to NINI74....there is no way my ex would allow her to bring anything to me, no idea why but that's how she is.

I have now been in touch with the school and told them i have legal rights to all letters and report and i will be receiving them from now on.

Once again, thanks.
