In February I went to a cocktail party in London. (wine glasses and champagne flutes if Sqad is listening) It was hosted by a priest in his presbytery. Fantastic night if you overlook the episode with the skip.
As the matriarch I had to ensure that all my younger family members got back to their hotels at a reasonable time so, as the sun was coming up, I led them to a nearby taxi office.
We were in for a long wait and the youngsters were bemoaning the fact we had no drink when......lo and behold..... a miracle occurred! From under Aunt G`s long black cloak there appeared........WINE....God knows how it got there.
Despite sharing in these ill-gotten goodies one of the little blighters decided to spill the beans to the priest.
We are now having another party and, despite the distance, the priest is coming.
I know I am in for a ribbing. He is lovely....great dress sense and wonderful taste in waistcoats but a wicked sense of humour.
Any guesses as to what my penance might be?

And the imagery is what you create in my mind - and why I like reading and the radio for the same reason, that turns on the images upstairs and then you have to convey and describe them. Hemingway is the true master of that too - the "frightening" thing for me is that when I write professionally, I need little editing - just here and there and it is usually typos. The true greats like Wilde or, say John Stuart Mills, could write so purely that they were never edited.

I regret not having studied English lang and lit further at school. Had my grade 1s in it and then "Use of English" and ran for the hills......

Oh I shall remain friends and stay in contact. I made my massage room very special and gave people lots of time. Some of my clients are ladies caring for sick husbands and the one hour massage becomes two or three hours in my room chatting and often shedding a tear with tea and once a ciggie for one but dont let on! One is a lady whose marriage can`t last I think. They would say it was the only time they had for themselves and could really relax and now I feel so flipping guilty.
As I said, just volunteer the tea/coffee and chat part to them...and slowly extricate yourself, at your pace....

As you know I wasn`t really allowed an education so got no qualifications.
Working in school in my thirties there was only one boy doing A level Eng. Lit. and two male teachers. They needed female input I thought so I persuaded the Head to let me do the course too. Did an essay on Murder In The Cathedral that so impressed the teacher he sent it to Liecs. Uni and they offered me a place! Then i took very ill. Sod`s law. But it taught me to learn.
Thank you for your advice.x
