Audi Extended Warranty

The initial 3-year warranty on my Audi A6 expires later in June. I have got documentation from my local Audi garage regarding an extended warranty. I note that I will be required to have the car serviced at that garage for the warranty to be valid. Is this the case with all Audi warranties or can I have my car serviced at a garage of my choice, provided of course that it offers a service as per Audi servicing specs?

This is a total scam - don't stand for it

Office of fair trading on it

All new cars come with some sort of
warranty covering parts failure. In
almost all cases your car warranty stays
valid no matter where you get your car
serviced but terms and conditions
attached to warranties can vary.
The law says that any manufacturers warranty and any extension offered as part offered free cannot be tied in this way.

It sounds as if they may be legally allowed to do this if you're actually paying for this warranty extension but legal or not it's a complete con to tie you into paying for overpriced servicing - don't stand for it
You can get the car serviced at any garage that is VAT Reg & they use the genuine parts Derry, tell them to sod off.
And I should point out that the law stopping them for forcing you to have it serviced with them is a piece of EU legislation.

Just for all those "What has the EU ever done for me?" folks
