Struggling with what to get my son for his 12th birthday. His only suggestion is "something for my computer" which is not that helpful!! We have probably spoilt him over the years so he already has a lot of stuff. In my defence, he is a very good boy - excellent report cards etc. and we could afford to buy him things. we also come from a large family that don't live close so they generally send him money which means he has been able to buy himself some large items.

He already has a decent bike, a computer/screen tv) etc, PS3, wii, DSs, a decent mobile phone, Ipod/dock and a kindle. The only thing he has mentioned was a gaming mouse but he plans to buy one with some amazon vouchers he got for christmas.

He is not yet interested in clothes/designer gear. He's a bit of a geek and likes techie stuff, games he likes are minecraft & skyrim. Not that interested in music, likes outdoor stuff (bear grylls/ray mears).

No point giving him cash as he rarely spends it so not really much of a present if you see what I mean.

I'd really appreciate any suggestions!! TIA

Hi Annie, we are in the same position with boy #1 - he has everything (he is not spoilt though, even if it sounds like it). He is currently toying with the idea of a camera that takes video too and is waterproof and drop proof. He can only have something light as we want to give him his gift on his actually birthday but we will be on holiday so size is a consideration.
Don't know the age limit for this, but it's your neck of the woods Annie.

thanks abbie - those ipads are supposed to be good but he rarely touches his ipod now and i think the ipad is much the same type of thing only bigger?

sher - we have had to do the same so many years as no 1 son's burthday usually falls when we are away. This year we will be at home but still off work so it's a bit easier. I suggested the items here and so far he is most keen on a cpu for his pc but also seems keen to put his money together with what we are prepared to give him and No 2 son and buy a new pc and give his old one to No 2 for his birthday which isn't actually a bad deal considering he has actually spent about £150 on upgrades on the one he has so No 2 would be getting a good deal too. Alternatively he wants a sofa (!!??) or a fancy computer chair. I think I'd prefer him to have something that means he isn't tempted to sit on his backside all day!!

Karen, that looks brilliant - age limit is 16 though :o(

and that rowing idea is pretty good too - I'll go investigate- he likes canoeing and I think he'd like to do sailing/fishing or something too.

Loads of great ideas guys thanks so much. - after we get this one sorted then we have No 2 son becoming 11 in August.....i hope he is a bit easier!!
Awww bugger. Still, that's 2016 sorted for his birthday ;-)

lol Karen that's true, but as his original request this year was for a plot of land then I dread to think what he'll suggest for his 16th!!!
My ex had the perfect present for our daughter's birthday when she was 12 but the age limit was 16. She finally gets to do it next week ;-)
