My dads about to turn 60 in two weeks and just had his hours cut at work from 16hrs to 8hrs a week. My mum who's 62 claims pension tax credit that there now saying is going to be cut because my dads hours have been cut. Can this be right? Through no fault of there own there now going to have all there money cut by a large amount. Doe's anyone know or have advice on what we can do please? I feel so bad that my parents are now really stressed through no fault of there own. And my dad who,s nearly 60 is stressing that he wont be able to find another job. Any advice would be gratful x

They need to go to the Benefits office and find out what else they might be entitled to, now your Dad's income is so low.

People aren't able to discriminate on grounds of age any more, so he needs to make sure he looks for work straight away.
Something is'nt correct here. The pension credit will not be cut just because his earnings have gone down - in fact, that would cause it to increase. There must be some other reason for the cut, & they need to get a proper explanation from the pension service. If they can't get one, go to the local CAB & ask them to check the position.
