I'm contemplating getting some 'Talking Books' being as reading is no longer an option for me. Magnifying stuff gives me headache's.
Anyway I wondered if any of you have any experience of them. There's plenty on line I see. I want to be able to sit in the garden & listen or on the beach or even in bed.
So what apperatas do I need?
Any comments or advice I'd be pleased to hear.

Would still go with mp3 player/iPod. Why carry 6 or 7 CD's around when you can have days(not hours) worth of media in nothing bigger than a fag packet?

Well I've been under the hospital 15 yrs about my sight, had several ops and because of the skill of those wondertul eye surgeons I am lucky I can see at all.
What with advancing years it is difficult now for any more to be done.
Its a case now of counting ones blessings, and believe me I do.

Don't worry, Jem, keep typing as long as possible, then could you use the in-built speech recognition software on your computer to stay in touch. ☺

Ron, what do you mean by "stupid keyboard?"

jem
Ron thinks quicker than typing fingers :), hence stupid keyboard - he thinks the keyboard is part of his thought process ☺

Nibble, thats a thought. I'll keep that idea in mind for later on. Tah!
My Grandma uses the tapes. She finds them easier to use because it starts off from the same point that you stop it. Plus, we have tried to teach her how to use a cd player... it didn't go very well lol!

The bad thing about the tapes is that you don't get a lot of new books. It's just what's there really.
