at minute i have talktalk (used to be tiscali) its usually a good service and good customer call centre but lately its been rubbish... twice i have had a problem and twice they have charged me 50 quid to sort it out and the internet has been hit and miss for a couple weeks now but im not calling them again and getting stung with a 50 quid bill ......

my contract is up now and im thinking of changing providers. Can anyone recommend one to me? Ive googled and looked at virgin, bt and sky but the different packages are just confusing me....im not bothered about phone packages or tv packages but if i have to have one i dont mind..... i do need unlimited broadband though... thank you :)

I find BT superb, and the back up service is pretty good too. Highly recommended.
we were on Virgin but their service slowed right down (after they "upgraded" it, of course) so we changed to Sky at the suggestion of our repairman (who lives over the road, so knew exactly what to expect). Sky has been fine. However, (a) we already had Sky TV , which made it cheaper, and (b) it does vary according to where you are, so it might actually make sense to ask neighbours.
Further....broadband and phone calls any time £16 pm, BT vision £4 pm and line rental on top of that, £34.50 pm in total.
Have a look at Tesco broadband. I have been with them 8 years Never had problem with them Their customer service is good and ever so helpful . I had to have my modem changed when I had my new windows seven . Just rang them and modem was here within 2 days. No charge and no charge for sorting anything out.
Had Virgin. Got fed up with the broadband going down for days at a time and switched to BT. Very happy and they are always there to sort out any queries. Also I use the BT wifi spots across the country for my ipod.
I used to be with tiscali, but my phone's with BT and so a few years back we moved to BT for broadband services. We're very pleased with them.
I am with Sky and I've not had any problems.
I swapped from Bt to Sky, after a bit of a fight with Bt, back in March, unlimited BB + home phone £22.50, £17.50 for the first 6 months. I'm quite happy with no problems to report so far.
I an with Bt...when we were with other providers, there was always the issue with the net provider saying it was the line and the line provider saying it was the ISP...now its all the one firm and whatever the problem, someone in that firm has to deal with it.
Don't know how any one can be with BT,so many hidden charges. IMO.
We left talk talk for the same reasons, we are now with Sky, no problems in 2 years.
I don't find any hidden costs with BT I pay one quarterly payment that covers all internet and all phonecalls.
