Hi there,
I sold my car last year without the log book as i had lost it.
The new owner had no problem with applying for a new one himself...all was fine, a few months later i received a letter from dvla informing me that someone had apllied for log book of my old car and to confirm that i sold it...of i didnt repky within 21days i would be fined.
I replied to the letter. Then another few months later i have recieved a summons to court next month.
I am a single mother and a student, i cant afford a fine and also have no child care to even go to court. I would prefer to plea guilty if it means a £30 fine and not have to go to court but wont do this if i will be left with a criminal record.
I would rather go to court and plead my case but i cant afford legal advice nor chold care and am worried that i will plead not guilty be found guilty and get an even bigger fine.
So my main worry is will i be left with a criminal record??
I am sooo confused! Hope someone can help me! :)
Thanks
Emma

I have read all the links and none of them come close tp my answerr lol theyre just similar situations with dofferent offences. I dodnt keep copies etc as i honesty didnt take it as a big deal, sent a reply and thought nothing of it. So frustrating.
Ive never been crb checked sp far but as kll be stsrting a new career after uni and i dont want anything in my way.

Thanks for your advice i know most motoring offences
(points etc.) do not show up but serious ones do so i just wondered where my one lay!

Im sorry if you think im but but its nothing to do with anyones answers, i appreciate the amswers. I was directing my comment to one user who decided to lecture me becuse i think this is all ridiculous and yes i still do, wasting court time on a 21yr old student and single mother who has never ever been involved in anything criminal is silly. I have a strong 'catch the real criminals' philosophy lol.
That's where answers are subjective, what means one thing to you, means another to someone else and I didn't see any lectures, sorry
The answer is 'no one can answer it 100%' - you'll just have to accept that as the answer I'm afraid

Out of interest, what course are you doing at Uni? If it's in childcare or somewhere where you will be placed with vulnerbale people you will have a CRB very son and better to have one before you qualify than after IMO

anyway GL again
any big companies like . courts, banks, councils, inland rev department of social security. if needs be i always send paper work via royal mail as recorded delivery and the person at the other end as to sign for it.

go to a solicitor or c.a.b. or even contact dvla with date that you say you replied to the letter.

glad i dont drive or have to worry about dvla. good luck
