I do, as many are inspirational and quite moving. I like poetry as well although not really a poet myself, Rowanwitch sends me some really nice ones which she has composed herself She has a way with words....
"It is a good thing for an uneducated man to read books of quotations"
- Winston Churchill
;-)
Question Author
Ha! Or to quote them?
Some really good ones in there, flobadob!
I have got some good ones from brainyquote.com
...but like a true Scot you're too mean to share them with us? ;-)
(your personal favourites, that is)
"Your wife, sirrah, under the pretext of keeping a bawdy house, is a receiver of stolen goods..."
Swedeheart

Will this do

Do not think of your faults, still less of other's faults; look for what is good and strong, and try to imitate it. Your faults will drop off, like dead leaves, when their time comes.
John Ruskin
or from the same author

In order that people may be happy in their work, these three things are needed: They must be fit for it. They must not do too much of it. And they must have a sense of success in it.
One of my favourite quotes (from Quentin Crisp):
"The problem of the young is to my mind always the same; how to conform and rebel at the same time, and this they’ve now solved –they rebel against their parents and conform with one another".
Scotman those will do nicely, I like them and believe them to be true. Flobadob your link has given me several new favourites but here's an old favourite of mine:

Change starts when someone sees the next step./William Drayton

and this:

Never follow somebody else's path; it doesn't work the same way twice for anyone...the path follows you and rolls up behind you as you walk, forcing the next person to find their own way./J. Michael Straczynski

and to pep talk myself:

Never accept a No from somebody who's not authorized to say Yes./ (dunno who said it first)
Here is my favorite:

'Here are your waters at your watering place. Lets drink till we are whole again, without confusion.'
"You're not drunk if you can lie on the floor without holding on."
Yep, I've added some of those to the favourite quotes section on my facebook profile.
Wow, good one, expat. Here's the entire poem: http://www.poets.org/...edia.php/prmMID/20521

Jno that's lolcatworthy;-)
"Love is the hardest thing in the world to write about. So simple. You've got to catch it through details, like the early morning sunlight hitting the gray tin of the rain spout in front of her house. The ringing of a telephone that sounds like Beethoven's "Pastoral." A letter scribbled on her office stationery that you carry around in your pocket because it smells of all the lilacs in Ohio."
