If we rleligionists are to fight back against the tide of atheism, should we campaign for a modern Inquisition?
Such a movement would of course have to politically correct, and not cross the boundaries of the Strasbourg laws.
So, what sticks could we adapt to go with our carrots?

Well our churches have certainly let the wind blow up their frocks in public on soooooo many occasions, that they definitely invite ridicule, most deservedly I'm afraid. Alas, the custard piety also detracts from the very fine work in their respective communities that is undertaken.
There is no doubt in my mind that Christian values are a treasure that are increasingly being buried under a mound of materialistic consumerism, and as our economic bubble bursts, and the casualties mount, the churches will as always be in the forefront of the rescue operations and offer comfort to the needy.
IMHO I believe that our true selves, devoid of the latest techie gadget, the designer drawers, and fitted gewgaws, would be drawn back to any safe haven preaching death of "self" and a rebirth to a higher yet more humble plain.
Yep, that might get 'em back in the pews.
Of course, December 2012 draws near, and who knows if a growing, media driven hysteria might not also panic the great unwashed into phenging their ewits before the final whistle?
