If I tax my car tomorrow ( at the moment it is untaxed ) can it be dated to start May 1st or do I have to wait until next week?

It can be started on the 1st may (although obviously you can't drive it until then)
I think you can do it 14 days before the actual 1st of the month.
No

Thanks - I'll nip to the PO tomorrow

oops Mike - is that so - really 'NO'? I don't want to waste a journey
Oh, Sorry, you can only tax it two days before the end of the month (I was sure it was a week)

So you can't tax it until Monday.

It won't let me do it on line - I can't remember actual wording but it definitely said I would have to produce the docs at a post office

looks as if you can tax it tomorrow for May 1st, so won't be able to drive it 'til Tuesday

Oh heck - looking at the V10 form I am now getting really scared.
I bought the car in Feb - taxed and MOT'd - and have used it a few times.
A week ago my son noticed that the tax disc is out of date - don't laugh at my senior moment but it hadn't occurred to me to look at the disc.
Checking with the garage that I bought it from they were convinced they'd taxed it and are still checking their records.
The V10 form asks about storage and usage while untaxed and then mentions heavy penalties.
Your car must be either taxed or sornd.

if not either you will get a fine!
