can i do anything about it

i stupidly shoplifted from a supermarket i was employed at (i was on maternity leave at the time) i received a caution from the police and was told not to worry about it as i had a clean record before. after applying for other jobs i have now found out that it has gone down as theft from work and is going against me getting another job is there anything i can do??

Sorry too,late now, accepting a caution actually means you have accepted that you did it and were guilty.
This though should only appear on an enhanced CRB check , most jobs do not ask for one.
you did the crime, im afraid you wont ever forget about it, it will crop up all the time, just try and explain to the new employers why you did it, and whats changed. good luck.
What Eddie said. The thing is, if you were caught, you could hardly deny it. Accepting a caution ends it there and then, unless you would want to go through the lottery of a court and name in the local paper etc.

One thing this highlights though is that, whilst some may view you as getting off, the reality with any caution or conviction is that it affects you in various ways. The latter particularly with getting insurance, virtually any job, credit. The list is endless.
