Taking medication abroad

Does anyone know if I will have trouble taking 4 packs of Dianette (contraceptive pill that I also use to control acne) into Japan and Australia? Do I need a letter from my Doctor - and if so do they use a validated form - I imagine it would be too easy to fake if they just word process a letter...

I took loads of medication into America because I was going there for 4 months. My doctor just told me to make sure I took everything in the original boxes with my name on. Perhaps you should ring the embassies and find out?

I took dianette into Australia. They never asked about medication or searched my bags and I never declared it, but I did ask my doctor just for a repeat prescription to take with me, if anyone wanted to see it. The fact is it is probably sold in those countries as well, maybe under a different name but the pack will have the generic drug name on. It isn't like it is a controversial or illegal in some countries drug and with only 4 packs it is clear it is only for your use.

At the very least, take the cardboard box and inner information booklet with you. I don't think a prescription is necessary but it can't hurt.
