Just wondering if it's ok to buy vegetable seeds from abroad or will Customs ban it?

Seeds are a restricted product for import into the UK, so it depends on where you are buying them from, what ones you are buying and how many you are buying.

These are the people to ask...

What seeds are you looking at buying? There might be a UK producer.
'Hemp' seeds from Holland?

It's a packet of 100 seeds from Ebay from Malaysia. They are oriental vegetable seeds. The seller has put not for USA unless they have a permit to import 'small lots of seeds' but says other countries not affected but I just want to check if that's true or not.
Give FERA a call and ask them on 0844 248 0071

(though I suspect the answer would be no from Malaysia)
If they are being sold a generic oriental vegetable seeds I would, personally, steer well clear.

If you are looking for specific exotics then have a look at www.otterfarmshop.co.uk you might find what you are looking for an find varieties that have been proven in the UK climate.

Ok, thanks everyone. I think I'll give it a miss then. Stick to growing Baby Gems instead!
