Have you got any suggestions for plants/flowers which will do well without too much water. I have an east/south facing garden and would like some suggestions for filling my borders.

We have deliberately gone for dry plants over the last few years - so we planted bamboo, succulents, oleander - fleshy plants which retain moisture. You don't want hollow stemmed plants like busy lizzies which need loads of water. Things like primulas at low level can live with limited water, as long as they get some.
I find geraniums (there are lots of types ) are very resilient when there is not much water about, and last almost a whole season if deadheaded regularly. I also find Japanese anemones (grow to about 3ft ) are very good in my garden ,which has the same outlook as yours.
Google Beth Chatto .... She is renowned for her East Anglian dried garden plantings ... however , really, if you can get horse manure and dig it in well, you will over time build up a moisture retentive undersoil and provided you water accurately (watering can) for a week or so until plants get away ,they will look after themselves. Soils under tree canopy and close to hedges is a different matter though!!

Thanks for your answers. I will try the Beth Catto search, especially as I'm in East Anglia too.
