We have a griddle plate that fixes to our gas hob

Last year we used it on our BBQ washed it off but as we dont use it very offten I left it outside (inside the BBQ)

Well with the nice weather coming ( hopefully) I cleaned the bbq and the griddle plate , but the black coating has come off the plate now it only takes a day before it is rusty again

what is the black coating and is it possible to replace it , re-coat it

Thank's

Sounds like either a non-stick coating, or cast iron, which looks black. To prevent rust, wipe the plate with cooking oil after cleaning it, and store it indoors.

Hi me again.....I am very pleased that you've have asked the question because I have an electric stove with cast iron hotplates and have a similar problem. Consequently I have done an Internet search and this afternoon have placed an order for the following; which could be the answer for both of us. :-
