Anyone completed this? I have cracked the theme and obeyed the instruction accordingly with the preamble. However I find that the last entry which fills 48ac is one letter short. Anyone in same position?

Hi haggis58, I don't think it's a problem that the last entry is one letter short. I'm sure you have it correct. On IQ1222, by the way, your treatment of 14ac is also right, but I think there's only one sensible way of arranging the spaces in the cells to achieve the desired "joiner"
I agree with turnerjmw on this but I also found a misprint lacking in 4 Down - do you think this is this significant?
I have the "one particular letter" referred to in the preamble as the misprint in 4 down.
Nimrod, I agree with Kobnut that there is a misprint in 4dn, and it is the "one particular letter " referred to in the preamble. If you imagine a full stop after that letter, to split the instruction into two parts, it might help make sense of it. The definition needs the misprint to make sense of the clue
Thank you both for your response - I get it now! Really stupid of me as I understood both parts of the clue.
I really enjoyed this Inquisitor, some clever clues and well hidden misprints -4d and 27d for example.
The theme and the instruction were great fun, even though I can't quite bring myself to carry out the latter just yet!
Thanks Rasputin.
Can anyone explain the link betwen Carline and Mage?
Mullingar, I imagine it's that both are sorcerers, though it's a bit loose
Thought that was probably it. Thanks rmnerjmw
I mean turnerjmw
