something urgent for tomorrow has just turned up and dentist now closed so im unable to ring them now.
if i ring in the morn to rearrange my appt will i be charged for a missed appt??? i use a nhs dentist but as i work i pay for treatment. Im currently having treatment under band 3 (bill of approx £200) so i dont want another bill on top of this, or will this band 3 charge cover the cost of a missed appt if they charge this??
i would welcome any advice. many thanks

If it's an NHS dentist then you're not likely to be charged any more than you would at the GP, but the cost of missed appointments is huge each year. Charges wouldn't cover missed appointments, IMO. The only way you'll know is to ring them first thing in the morning - or can't you ring them now and leave a message on their answerphone - I would.
Just looked at NHS site, says you should not be charged for a missed appointment but if it is a NHS appointment they can refuse any further treatment. I would think that if you phone first thing it should not be a problem. If it is anything like mine they are always trying to fit emergencies in and will probably fill it.
My NHS dentist charges for late cancellations. Perhaps they all have their own systems. I'd ring them now and leave a message on the answerphone.

Local arrangements differ, so you may well have to pay a nominal sum.
my dentist charges a fee for missed appts if you fail to give them 24hrs notice! afterall, why should they lose out?
I recently had a double appointment. One with dentist, the other with hygeinist. They let me cancel the dentist on the day with no charge but I had to make it for the hygienist or I would have been charged the full amount for that.
i have also had many apts cancelled on me at short notice though!
My dentist (private) reserves the right to charge. The only times I have cancelled at short notice have been for drastic unavoidable reasons and they have never charged even though I have always offered
My dentist charges for missed appointments unless 24hrs notice is given.

Why don't you try ringing the number. There may be an answerphone so that you can leave a message.

thanks all, dont want to cancel as want to get my treatment over and done with. Ive never cancelled any of my other appts at short notice either. Ive tried ringing, theres no answerphone to leave a message so I am going to have to ask someone else to do the urgent job tomoz for me (a hospital pick up) and give them something for helping out, would rather pay a friend for a favour than a cancellation fee ! thanks again for all the advice.
