Double clutching?

Guys! Anyone know what this double clutching is? A guy at work was going on abut it and I don't have a clue :(

is that the same as a double declutch? You depress the clutch, take the vehicle out of gear, let the clutch up, depress the clutch again, select gear and let the clutch up. You used to have to do it in the days before synchromesh. (showing my age)
I cant think of any other suggestion woofgang, Used to us double-declutch myself, many years ago, drive an automatic now but when in a manual gearbox vehicle I still have the habit. It was supposed to save wear on the clutch, dont't know it it ever did but I only ever had to change 2 in my life so there may be something in it. Alperchino with syncromesh you shouldn't need it unless your clutch fails and then you will to avoid crashing your gears, You will find it gives a smoother ride when changing gear and your passengers wont bounce back and forth IF you get the revs right, it comes with practice.
Many years ago my dad drove a lorry collecting sand and I remember him saying you always had to double clutch in a lorry.
Even with syncromesh, double clutching is desirable for down shifting... going to a lower gear. Technique is to depress clutch, move shifter to neutral, apply power to bring transmission up to approximately same speed as engine, depress clutch and move to desired lower gear... Makes it much easier on engine and transmission...

My first car was an Austin puddle jumper and you had to double de-clutch to change gear.
