Normally I go to Tesco or Waitrose for a food shop and even when not doing a huge shop I spend £80-£100 a week and come home with not many meals at all. Ivejust walked uptown and round the market. I bought 2 bags full of different fruits, apples, grapes, malon, mango, bananas for a fiver, loads of different meats and then popped to Iceland for some frozen stuff. I have spent £30.00 and have got loads. Think I may do this every week and just go to waitrose every now and then for toilet roll and tinned products. Am amazed at how cheap the market is and probably better quality too.

This thread has been really interesting - I've certainly made of note of the Aldi part baked dinner rolls - I'm hoping to get to Aldi tomorrow
Aldi frozen lamb shanks in mint gravy are nice.
I live right by a Lidl and their stuff is fantastic. You can save an absolute fortune on most stuff
Tilly2 - If you plan on doing a big shop in Sainsburys its worth calling in mid week for a couple of things but spend no more than £10. You'll very likely to be given a voucher for double points next time you shop becasue they'll want to intice you back in.

We do it when we remember and it usually works
I always use Lidl formil washing powder...would not use any other it is the best powder I have ever had !!!...chocolate also...from Aldi and/or Lidl...yum yum...
I am a big fan of a 99p store near where I work. ok not for fruit veg etc, but full size black pudding, 2 litres of milk, dozen eggs, full set of insulated screwdrivers, pack of bacon, bicycle repair kit. shoe cleaning kit, etc the value for money is unbeatable.
Has anybody been into Poundstretcher? They do some really good offers on kitchen rolls and toilet rolls (Plenty, Andrex and Kleenex)Recently they had a pack of 6 rolls pf Plenty for £2.99, as well as some good offers on cleaning products. I only ever went in there to buy plastic storage boxes when we moved but I keep going back for the cleaning and paper products.
yes we have a Poundstretcher and Poundland - shows I know the classy shops eh ?
nungate - do you have a Co-op close by? They are doing 9 Velvet toilet rolls for £3.00 instead of £5.19.
hc - I see Lidl have 2 lamb shanks on offer half price @ £2.49 on 6/7th April
