I am unable to open some files in documents, when I click on a file I get this message.

This file does not have a programme associated with it for performing this action. create an association in the folder options in the control panel.

As far as I know I have not done anything different when going into my docs.
Any solutions please.
Thanks in advance

Open the folder with the files in it, then look in the "Type" column to see if it says what type of file it is.

You can right click on a file and select "Open with" to see if you can find a program to open the file.

Once you have found the right program you can select the option "always use this program to open this type of file" (or similar words).
Often it helps to know what the file extentsion is.

So a Word document might be "holiday.doc" (the "doc" is the extension).

But Windows does not always show the file extension (it is hidden by default).

If you go into your "Folder and Search" options there is an option called "Hide extensions for known file types".

Turn this option OFF (remove tick) and save the changes.

Now the file you want to open will have its extension displayed.

If you tell us what the extension is we can tell you what will open it.

p.s. The text and instructions above are for Windows 7. The instructions for XP or Vista wil be different, but you may be able to find it using my instructions and adapting them slightly.
