Hi abers just thought I would ask if anyone has any experience of this. My 13 year old son fell onto his head after an over-aggressive football tackle yesterday. Apparantly he suffered a 40 second seizure. He has never had one before. He had some brief memory loss and has concussion. Just wondering anyone else's experiences of this.

Never have......but you haven't said when this happened and if he had medical attention and investigation.
My daughter fell off her horse and hit her head on the jump. She sat up immediately and spoke then started fitting eyes rolled back and she fell back. A few seconds later she sat up. She was quite dazed I took her to the doctor for a check up and she was ok. That was about 12 years ago. She has never had another episode since.
This happened to my daughter, playing a silly game where you fall backwards and your friends catch you, only they didn't catch her. Apparently she had a small fit lasting 30-40 seconds. Only thing was they didn't tell me until the next day, rushed her up the hospital, she was absolutely fine.
Keep an eye on him. Someone I know very well had an accident in the school gym and broke the nose and hit the head as she fell unsupervised from a beam.

Before that there was no evidence of epilepsy but for the rest of her life she has been subject to seizures.

Just be on your guard in case..............
yup....my son got kicked in the head (accidentally) playing rugby. he also had a fit and suffered concussion as a result. nothing since (he's now 18 and 6 years post-incident). it's something that can happen post head trauma and is usually a one-off. i hope he is recovering now x

Oh thanks to all replies; I do feel better about it. He does too...was taken to a and e, had x ray and scan and all was ok. Very interesting to hear of other experiences. He has been fine, stayed off school but back tomorrow. It happened yesterday lunchtime.
sunflower...thanks for the reply.......he should be fine now, but as the above posters have indicated, keep an eye on him.
